Back to 2D (new analog collage)

Back to 2D

Title: Back to 2D.
Analog Photomontage / Collage
Made on 110212.
Size: 18x17.5cm.
Using only national geographic jan/11 (US edition).

So you may wonder why this 2D title?
Well, if you check all my collages, i was pretty stuck with 3D backgrounds / photomontage style for quite some time.
With this one i got back to connecting images by following paths between them.
Example: in the upper left, the tree merges into the mountain that merges on the upper right with the brown/bege limit. Others are there for you to find out...

Warps - new digital photomontage

Warps

(note: ultra-highly recommended to be viewed in fullscreen or downloaded)

Title: Warps
Digital Photomontage / Collage by iuri kothe, made on 110114.
Using a photo a took in 2010: 100916 morro de sao paulo 014 (haven't uploaded it anywhere yet).
Mainly selecting triangles & freeforms and using the amazing warp transformation feature.

Long time i don't try a digital collage (crazy, the last digital one was in 2007 with photos i took in boipeba - an island near morro), and the last times i've tried an analog one, nothing came out. i think i'm a little tired of making the same style again, so i tried some new directions...

my main inspiration was this montage by anatoly: "Persistent Pyramids".

obs: i've finally started to code my own website (in rails), hope to release it as open source soon...

obs2: i've changed the Creative Commons of my Flickr photos just to 'Attribution' (more info on CC-by here). basically you can use, share, remix & sell, burn, ... given you remember to credit me somewhere ;-)

Spreadsheet of all my Collages with Date, Link, Title, Sizes etc.

Two years ago i started a nice spreadsheet (yeah, i like spreadsheets!) to keep a record on some basic info about my collages, like:

  • Date

  • Title

  • Type: Analog or Digital

  • Sizes (of the original and the scanned version)

  • Observation

  • Owner

I've finally added this list to my main website, so everyone can enjoy this overview on my artworks.

Have fun:

note: i'll be slowly adding the flickr links...
